Unfortunately, they are messing with it and it's not just because I'm a teacher, but I think this is the worst thing we could possibly do! There is actually a district in the next town over from us that is cutting back many jobs. There are teachers who are actually losing their jobs!!! This is just ignorant to me. Sure this may be a quick fix with the county's budget, but what you do to the school's will effect that community for many years to come. These kids are our future, yes I understand that that is an overly cliche statement, but Whitney had it right! Honestly, think about this, we are cutting back teachers! There will be students going from already overly crowded classrooms to pure insanity. I recommend everyone try being a sub for one day, see how having 28 students in class is tremendously ineffective. Then think about adding about 5 more students to that class and figure out a way to teach each and every one of them in 45 to 90 minutes. I could go on forever about the importance of the education system, but I wont. I am not the person who sits there arguing over the fact that I should make far more money than I do. Yes, I do feel this, but I knew what I was getting into financially when I decided to be a teacher. It has never been some closed up secret that teachers make crap. Keep screwing us by paying us so very little, but don't mess with the quality of education we are giving our children.
Luckily, however, for me my county doesn't seem to be faced with cutting back teachers, just summer school. Now normally I could care less, it would teach some of these kids that you actually have to work during the school year! This year though, I have been hoping to teach. Since I had to go off payroll when I had Khloe that took away my eligibility of 12 month salary, so I wont be paid over the summer. Thus the reason I wanted to teach summer school. If they don't have it I will hopefully be working at my mother-in-law's company for $8 an hour, yay for me! Okay, I fully understand that sarcasm may not be picked up on the computer, but dear lord I would rather play in the road!
